Zuraida Dada-Ramdin

Hi! My name is Zuraida Dada-Ramdin, and I am an Associate with The Career Institute of Calgary. I am a registered Industrial Psychologist in Alberta and South Africa. I am a member in good standing of the College of Alberta Psychologists, the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta and the Health Professions Council of South Africa. I am also the owner of Dada-Ramdin & Co., a consulting firm specializing in Industrial Psychology and Management Consulting.

I grew up in South Africa and lived, studied and worked in Johannesburg.I obtained an undergraduate degree specializing in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand, and then went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management at the University of the Witwatersrand’s Business School.

I began my working career as an entrepreneur in the retail sector and experienced a career epiphany, which launched my professional career as a Human Resources Practitioner. I had always dreamed of pursuing a career in psychology however, so whilst working in my professional capacity, I undertook part-time studies and obtained an Honours degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of South Africa, as well as a Masters degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand.

I have a dual passion. One relates to cultivating the potential of future leaders, today. This is manifested in my past and present work, in test based Career planning, which enables me to empower the youth of today, to make the correct choices, resulting in good fit careers, tomorrow. My other passion lies in promoting the wellness of both individuals and organizations by specializing in identifying and cultivating leadership talent, developing strategies, and implementing specific programs, in order to foster positive work relationships and promote both organizational and individual health.

I am a seasoned senior HR professional and Industrial Psychologist with almost two decades of experience working with national and international organizations in the academic, public and private sectors. I have been blessed to have been granted the opportunity to acquire and demonstrate an eclectic range of skills in various roles: from specialist to generalist, from team member to team lead, from internal consultant to external consultant.

Prior to coming to Canada, I also successfully ran a psychology practice in South Africa, specializing in Industrial Psychology and Management Consulting. I have had the opportunity of working in two countries in Africa, Canada and the United States of America. I speak three languages fluently and have a working knowledge of three other languages.
